Quick Summary

St. Maarten is shining brighter than ever. The dual-nation island has reported a remarkable 16.9% increase in air arrivals and a 14% jump in cruise visitors during the second quarter of 2025 — figures that carried through a record-breaking summer season.

This impressive growth places St. Maarten among the Caribbean’s most dynamic destinations, signaling not only a tourism boom but also renewed confidence from investors and travelers alike.

A World-Class Arrival Experience

A major catalyst behind this momentum is the island’s reimagined gateway: Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM). The newly unveiled arrivals hall, part of an extensive modernization project, now greets passengers with cutting-edge efficiency.

The integration of biometric screening and a digital entry system has streamlined the customs process, allowing visitors to enter and exit with greater ease and security. The result is a seamless, world-class arrival experience that mirrors the island’s growing sophistication.

Coming soon to Princess Juliana International Airport is also a new FBO, making private jet travel to and from St. Maarten better than ever.

Strategic Partnerships Fuel Airlift Growth

Behind the numbers lies coordination and strategy. St. Maarten’s tourism board, airport authority, and government have been working hand-in-hand to enhance airlift, strengthen hospitality infrastructure, and position the island as a premier Caribbean hub.

May-Ling Chun, Director of Tourism, emphasized this unified approach, noting that proactive marketing campaigns, participation in key travel industry events, and direct engagement with airline partners have all paid dividends.

And the airlines have responded...

This year alone, Z Air has launched new regional flights from Curaçao, while Winair has expanded service to Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and Bonaire. Contour Airlines will begin operations from San Juan, Puerto Rico in November 2025, followed by JetBlue’s nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in December. American Airlines and United Airlines will soon add routes from Chicago, and Southwest Airlines is slated to open connections from Orlando and Baltimore by April 2026.

Together, these routes solidify St. Maarten’s role as one of the most connected islands in the Caribbean, ensuring consistent visitor flow year-round.

A New Era of Luxury and Lifestyle Investment

The island’s transformation extends well beyond its airport. St. Maarten is experiencing a renaissance in luxury hospitality and residential development, redefining its skyline and elevating its global appeal.

New and upcoming properties — including the highly anticipated Vie L’Ven Resort and Residences and Elie Saab Villas — are setting a new standard for Caribbean living. These branded, design-led resorts offer not just an unforgettable vacation experience but also strong real estate investment potential.

For investors seeking lifestyle-driven returns, St. Maarten represents a rare opportunity: a location with no capital gains or property taxes, year-round tourism demand, and an emerging luxury segment supported by global hospitality brands.

A Destination Evolving with Purpose

According to Grisha Heyliger-Marten, Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport, and Telecommunication, the island’s growth reflects its evolution into a more refined, connected, and welcoming destination.

“There’s truly never been a better time to experience St. Maarten,” she shared. “With expanded flight options, a modernized airport, and new world-class resorts, our island is ready to welcome visitors from across the globe.”

She added, “What sets St. Maarten apart is its blend — a little European elegance, a whole lot of Caribbean warmth, and a vibrant mix of cultures. Whether you come for the beaches, the cuisine, or the community, you’ll always feel at home here.”

Visit. Experience. Invest.

For travelers, St. Maarten offers the ideal balance of relaxation and sophistication. For investors, it presents a market with strong tourism fundamentals, expanding infrastructure, and world-class developments that merge lifestyle with opportunity.
