Korte samenvatting

There's a particular kind of trip that's hard to plan for: the one where you want to be together, but not quite on top of each other. Where a family reunion deserves more than one kitchen table. Where a romantic moment shouldn't share a pool deck with your in-laws. La Nina and La Pinta solve exactly that.

Situated side by side in the gated community of Terres Basses, these two sister villas can be rented independently or as a single, seamlessly connected estate. Two pools, two kitchens, two private worlds. One shared tennis court and gym tucked between them, accessed from each villa by its own private path.

La Nina

Intimate by Design

La Nina is a two-bedroom villa with a clear sense of purpose: it exists to make you slow down.

The architecture is Creole in style, with large pocket doors that dissolve the line between inside and out, letting in the breeze and the view in equal measure. The palette is calm (taupe, cream, sand) paired with colorful artwork and painted furniture that gives it warmth without fuss. The kitchen opens directly to the terrace, so the person cooking is never cut off from the people they're cooking for.

Both bedrooms sit off the pool deck, each with its own exterior access and a spa-style en-suite with sculpted sinks, and walk-in showers. Equal in size. Equal in comfort.

The outdoor space is where La Nina really earns its reputation. Multiple covered terraces and sundecks, a beautiful private pool, and - come late afternoon - some of the most remarkable sunset light on the island. Terres Basses faces west, and the sky here puts on a show.

It's no coincidence that La Nina is frequently chosen for honeymoons. The seclusion is real, the atmosphere is genuinely romantic, and yet you're never far from anything: Baie Nettle's restaurants are five minutes away, Marigot 10, and the beaches of  Baie Longue and Plum Bay just a short drive down the road.

La Pinta

Grander, but never loud

Step next door, and La Pinta Villa carries itself with a quiet confidence; artful without being showy, spacious without feeling empty.

The design language leans into contrast: white and beige interiors with dark wood accents, wood textures, and a collection of striking sculptures and African-inspired art pieces that give each room something worth pausing in front of. Wide covered galleries wrap around the home, generous enough for dining, lounging, or simply watching the palms move in the trade wind.

All four bedrooms open directly onto the pool terrace and come with private exterior access and spa-style bathrooms finished in travertine, marble, and dark stone. Some look out over the garden. Others face the Ocean.

The pool itself is expansive, more of an outdoor room than a swimming amenity, flanked by sun chairs and umbrellas, with a striking sculpture anchoring the terrace.

Guests who've stayed put it simply: "Everything makes you feel like you are in a 5-star retreat. Your private oasis."

Renting both

When La Nina and La Pinta are rented together, this estate becomes something genuinely rare.

Six bedrooms across two villas. Two private pools. Two fully equipped kitchens. Individual living spaces that afford real privacy, but a shared tennis court and gym for when everyone wants to be in the same place. The sports section is reached from each villa by its own garden path, meeting halfway between the two properties. It's a detail that feels intentional, because it is.

For multi-generational families, it works especially well: parents in La Pinta, grown children in La Nina, dinners together, mornings apart. For groups of friends, the dynamic is similar - communal when you want it, private when you don't.

Terres Basses itself adds to the appeal. It's one of the quieter parts of the island, residential in character, gated, and located a few minutes from Baie Longue; a long, mostly empty stretch of white sand that is arguably the most beautiful beach on St. Martin.
